MindBerry User Guide
This is the help document of MindBerry mindmapping software.
Create a new mindmap
Open the menu and choose
New
. A dialog will prompt you to save the changes to your currently edited mindmap.
Open an existing mindmap
Open the menu and choose
Open
. Browse to the path of the mindmap file and press
Enter
.
Set default storage folder:
You can set your current browsing folder to become Default folder.

Save a mindmap
Open the menu and choose
Save
. Type in the name of your mindmap, browse to the folder you want to save and press
Enter
.
Import a mindmap (Freemind and MindManager)
Open the menu, and choose
Open
. A file browser screen should appear, navigate to the mindmap you want to import (extension *.mm) and click. MindBerry will import the mindmap for you.
Export a mindmap
Open the menu and choose
Export
. Type in the name of your exported mindmap, browse to the folder you want to save and press
Enter
. This version of MindBerry can export to
FreeMind
and
MindManager
format.
* Note:
The .xmmap export option works best for Mindjet MindManager.
Email a mindmap
Open the menu and choose
Send via email
. You can choose some options here: compress the map befor sending it, attachment format and email content.
Navigating
Scroll the trackball to navigate between nodes.
If your device is a 87xx phone, use the trackwheel to move left and right between nodes. Hold
ALT
and scroll trackwheel will result in moving up and down.
Or:
Use the numeric key for navigating. 2-4-6-8 key for Up - Left - Right - Down navigation. Hold down the key to continue navigating in current direction.
Tip:
For faster key-based navigating, from your BlackBerry home screen, choose
Options -> Screen/Keyboard -> Key Rate
. Set the value of Key Rate field to Fast.
Scrolling
Hold
ALT
and scroll the trackball to scroll the mindmap.
If your device is a 87xx phone, hold
SHIFT
key and use the trackwheel to move left and right between nodes. Hold
ALT
and scroll trackwheel will result in moving up and down.
Or:
Use the numeric key for scrolling. Hold
ALT
, and press 2-4-6-8 key for Up - Left - Right - Down navigation. Hold down the key to continue scrolling in current direction.
Tip:
For faster key-based scrolling, from your BlackBerry home screen, choose
Options -> Screen/Keyboard -> Key Rate
. Set the value of Key Rate field to Fast.
Create a child node
Navigate to the parent node, and press key
P
or click the trackball to open up New Topic dialog. Enter your topic content and press Enter.
Or:
Open the menu, choose
New subtopic
to open up New Topic dialog. Enter your topic content and press Enter.
Create a sibling node
To create a sibling node, navigate to the node you want to share the parent and press
Enter
.
Or:
Open the menu, choose
New sibling topic
to open up New Topic dialog. Enter your topic content and press Enter.
Edit a topic
Navigate to the node you want to edit and press
W
.
Or:
Open the menu, choose
Edit topic
to open up Edit Topic dialog. Enter your topic content and press Enter.
Delete a topic
Navigate to the node you want to delete and press
DEL
.
Or:
Open the menu, choose
Delete topic
.
* Note:
You can undo delete action by open the menu and select
Undo delete
.

Drag and Drop a topic
Navigate to the node you want to drag and press
M
. Press
Enter
or
M
again to drop the node.
Attach note to topic
Navigate to the node, and press key
N
. If the node currently has no node attached, a dialog will prompt you enter the note content. Enter content then click OK. After that, you will have your note attached.
Edit or remove a note: press key
N
and choose Edit Note/Remove Note option in the menu.
* Note:
The Note Panel can be scrolled using Trackball.

Add hyperlink

Navigate to the node, and press key combination
Alt + L
. You can choose between creating a web url link, local file link or another mindmap link.
Follow a link: Alt + L again and choose the
Go!
button.
Fold/Unfold
Press
Space bar
to fold all node's children. Press
Space bar
again to unfold.
Cut, Copy and Paste a topic
To cut a node, press
ALT + C
or using the menu, choose
Cut Topic
.
To copy a node, press
ALT + D
or using the menu, choose
Copy Topic
.

To paste, press
ALT + V
or using the menu, choose
Paste Topic
.
To clear the clipboard, choose the
Clear clipboard
menu option.
Reflect a topic
Reflect basically is changing the side of node from left to right, or from right to left. Press
R
to switch the node's side.
Change text color
Press
C
to bring up the Color palette. Choose the color you want and press
Enter
.
Change line color
Press
L
to bring up the Color palette. Choose the color you want and press
Enter
.
Want more color?

Press
H
or bring the menu and choose
Hexagon mode
when you are at the Color palette. You should see something like this:
Change line style
There are 8 different life styles. Press
Y
to bring up the Line Style toolbox.
Change topic icon
Press
I
to bring up the Icon toolbox. Choose the icon you want and press
Enter
. A node can contain multiples icons.

Change display font of the topic
Press
T
to bring up the Font toolbox. Choose the font and press
Enter
.
Change topic style
Press
ALT + I
to toggle Italic.
Press
ALT + B
to toggle Bold.
Press
ALT + U
to toggle Underline.
Press
ALT + O
to decrease font height.
Press
O
to increase font height.
Apply style to branch
Choose
Apply style to branch
to cascade apply style down to entire branch.
Choose
Apply style to branch
at root node to apply style to entire mindmap.

Change Default Option
Open the menu and choose
Options
. From Options screen, you can customize the settings of MindBerry, including Show Grid, Scrolling Speed, Drag Speed
